St. Marys Man Incarcerated

On Sunday, January 25, 2015, at 10:26 pm, St. Marys Police Officer Ptl. Tom Kennedy was conducting a routine bar check at Friendly Tavern located at 115 S. Main Street in St. Marys. Ptl. Kennedy entered the establishment and had been inside for several minutes having a conversation with the bartender. A short while later Freddie Hardin, Jr., age 44, a patron at the bar, began speaking and acting erratically. Mr Hardin then began making threats to take the Officer's gun. As Ptl. Kennedy was trying to talk to Mr. Hardin, Mr. Hardin assaulted the officer. The officer did take Freddie Hardin, Jr. into custody and he was transported to the Auglaize County Jail where he was incarcerated. Currently, Mr. Hardin faces one count of Assault on a Peace Officer, a felony of the Fourth Degree. The officer involved did sustain minor injuries in the altercation.
