Bobcats Removed From Endangered List

December 19, 2014-

According to the ODNR, The Ohio Wildlife Council removed the bobcat from the list of endangered and threatened species in April.  Sr. Suzanne Prange says that Ohio is becoming more heavily populated with bobcats.  Bobcats are primarily in southeastern Ohio but are in the northeastern part of the state as well, with Darke County having one verified bobcat sighting documented.

"Bobcats are shy and elusive. They typically don't come near people nor do they kill small dogs and cats the way coyotes do.  However, if your dog attacks a bobcat and corners the cat, the cat will fight and probably win,"  says Dr. Prange.
