Man in Boehner Case Found Competent

April 30, 2015-

Michael Hoyt, a former bartender charged with threatening to kill House Speaker John Boehner, has pleaded not guilty after being found competent to stand trial. Based on a report from a federal medical center in Massachusetts where Hoyt was sent for mental evaluation and treatment, a U.S. District Court Judge in Cincinnati found Hoyt competent yesterday.  A separate criminal complaint says Hoyt was fired last fall from a Cincinnati country club where Boehner is a member.  Hoyt told authorities he began hearing the devil's voice after he was fired, telling him Boehner was "evil".  Court documents show Hoyt has a history of mental illness.
