Two Home Fires in Spencerville Blocks Apart

Spencerville Fire Chief Dave Evans said a fire broke out about 1:30 Saturday afternoon at a home on S. College St. The fire is believed to have started in an upstairs bedroom. Evans said no one was home at the time of the fire.  Before crews were finished at the home on College Street,  another call came in for a house fire less than a mile away.  The call came in around 2:15, Evans stated that a fire broke out in an upstairs bedroom at a home located at 305 W. North St.  Evans said a passing motorist noticed smoke, stopped and alerted sleeping Christina Grigsby.  Grigsby escaped safely, thanks to the motorist. Grigsby has five children, none of whom were home at the time of the fire.
