Phone Scams in Celina

The Celina Police Department is alerting the public of phone scams being reported in the area. Recent phone scams include people calling and claiming to be from a government agency, such as the FBI or the IRS, threatening people with prison of a payment is not made. Another scam involves a caller informing victims that they have won a prize, like money or a car, and that taxes and shipping fees are required before the individual can claim the prize. Police advise individuals to never give out financial information over the phone.
