Tuition to Increase For Most Ohio Universities
July 20, 2014-
Most Ohio universities chose to increase tuition as much as state limits would allow for the 2014-2015 school year. The amount: 2% or $188, whichever is higher.
Students feel the increases are too much, but universities say the state's cap limits the increases, keeping them lower than in the past. Between 1996 and 2006, there was a 9% increase in tuition. Since 2010, public universities have been able to raise tuition by 3.5% due to the cap.
Miami University made the top 5% of U.S. public schools with the highest tuition- $24,674 per year. Five Ohio schools are among the top 25: OSU ranked 9th, The University of Cincinnati, 19th, and Ohio University 22nd.
