Ohio Sales Tax Holiday

August 3, 2015

Retailers and legislators are hoping that Ohio's first-ever sales tax holiday next weekend will offer a Black Friday-like excitement among shoppers wanting to save money on back-to-school purchases.  Beginning Friday, August 7 and continuing through Sunday, August 9, shoppers can purchase as many clothing items and shoes that cost $75 or less, and as many school supplies that  cost $20 or less and not have to pay sales tax on those items, state or local.  This would save shoppers between 6.5 and 7.25 percent off the tax on those items, depending what county one purchases the items.
