Deadly Dog Flu Expected to Hit Ohio

April 17, 2015

A deadly dog flu is almost certain to make it to Ohio, according to  Miami Valley Veterinarian, Dr. Daniel Brauer.  When asked to rate on a scale from 1-10 his concern about H3N2, Dr. Brauer said, "12".  More than 1,000 dogs have been diagnosed with the canine flu strain in Wisconsin, Illinois, Indiana, and Georgia.  Six dogs have died so far. Symptoms include a cough, runny nose and eyes, and fatigue.  Dogs that have been vaccinated for the H3N8 influenza seem to have built an immunity to the deadly strain of H3N2.
